Dear Airlines, 20 kilos is just not enough!

Out of curiosity how do you pack for a year?! Any advice and please don't say just buy clothes over there or I may smack you in my frustration. I would just buy clothes over there and I am sure with time I will actually buy some but I want enough clothes to get me through the first few months without having to worry about needing to buy anything. Which brings me to one of my big big problems... In those first few months the tempreture goes from hot hot (in Vegas in the middle of Summer) to literally freezing cold (in Canada.)

When I was younger I moved so many times. Easily more than ten times and once I moved towns so I know how horrible it is to move. But never once has this moving been governed by a 20 kilo limit. Nor have I ever had the knowledge that whatever I have in my bag I will have to carry... long distances. Knowing that I will have to lug my backpack around inspires me with restraint despite my desire to pack my whole wardrobe. And another disastrious descision to make... what shoes do I take? It is like Sophies choice:)

And that is my whinge what a horrible drama to be faced with. Joshua on the other hand hasn't even started packing and is all *shruges shoulders* "I will just buy it over there." I am seriously considering sneaking some of my stuff into his bag. Wish me luck.

Love,

The latest

I feel like a lot has happened in the last week. Probably most notable being Joshua and I had our going away dinner. While we are still in town for another two weeks, one of those Joshua is away and I wanted to spend the last weekend I am in town to just chill out and spend time with family. Anyway I am getting ahead of myself. First things first.

As you are probably well aware the last week or so has been pretty full on. I don't want to use the term freak out but it seems to be accurate in this case. While Josh was away at work I pretty much let my concerns and worries completely freak me out to the point I burst into tears. It was terrible while it didn't come to the full on I am not going it was definately on its way there. Things came to a head when Joshua got home. I literally cried at work. Yes I am one of those girls. Even if I am in denial and felt I hid it quite well. Joshua was so good though. He reassured me. He hadn't realised that my concerns had esculated to that degree and he let me cry and comforted me. It was lovely. He told me the things I needed to hear. And made me feel safe and secure that everything was going to be alright. Don't get me wrong those niggly worries are still there but I definately feel that together we will be okay.

Then on Saturday night we had a get together with friends. It made me feel special to have them all there and while I would of loved to be able to spend more one on one time with each of them it was so lovely. I will post some of the very few photos that were taken on the night very soon.

Only 16 days,

Freud This Up

Last night I dreamt I had no clothes. And to make matters worse I had no clothes to pack. So it was a choice between stay here or go to Canada naked. How do you like that Freud?

Love Love Love

I say, if only life would lean our way,
Well, you and me, we'd run away to be wherever our adventure awaits,
And time would be a distant memory,
nobody could tell us to stay,
Well, I've been dreaming ever since I've seen your heaven when you came my way.

Commentary on my hair... With a side of heart

Today I realised that I hadn't posted anything for over a week. Thats terrible Muriel!

My other realisation is that: I am over my hair. I am so tempted to cut it all off. For over a year I have been sporting a cropped do (not pixie short but pretty short) and I loved it. I loved having short hair it is so so so much fun. Especially after having quite long hair my entire adult life. It was made extra fun by the multitude of colours I have assaulted my hair follicles with over the past year. You name it my hair has been it.

But the tricky thing with short hair is it really likes the maintenance. It needs a cut regularly otherwise it becomes disobedient and it simply needs blowdrying, straightening (not so much in my poker straight hair) and will simply not survive without product. Which is all well and good but considering my intention for the next few months is to hack across a country and to be unemployed probably not the smartest idea. Which brings me to this period of my life called "Painful Growing Out."

The layers that I used to love have now taken on a teenage rebellion that I have to attempt to control with copious amounts of hair spray and bobby pins. Oh how I love thee bobby pins. I used to think that I had zero patience turns out I must have a little because my beautiful short hair is now long enough to tie into a (if not small) pony tail.

My next realisation for today is that I am scared. I am officially 22 days out of shipping out and setting sail to live in a whole other country/continent!! And I am scared. I don't know what will happen.

I try to calm my worries with logic. The knowledge that everything will be okay. The knowledge that I can always come home. The knowledge that my loved ones are always there for me even if they are further away and the knowledge that Joshua loves me and will look after me and would never let anything happen to me. I am trying not to be melodramatic. This is huge and exciting and an opportunity that not everyone gets. For so long all I had was excitement I was ready. I was willing. So it is a bit nerve wrecking to now be nervous.

So there you have it a commentary on my hair... with a side of my heart.
